IPhone or Sidekick?

Question

IPhone or Sidekick?
Ok, i dont know which one to get. I am with CingularATampT. So if I got a sidekick i would need an unlocked one, is there anything different about an unlocked sidekick from a locked sidekick? HELP!!

Answer

Just FYI.brbrYou can unlock the sidekick but all that will function is the phone and simple texting.brbrAll of the advanced features on the sidekick are backended through Dangers servers exclusively for tmobile. No web, no email, no IMs.brbrIn that case it would probably be best to get the iPhone. The price difference is really marginal depending the sdk that you chose. The LX which is the newest sdk is vs the iPhones .brbrWhat do you want to do on your phone?brbrAre you just looking for something with internet? brBoth phones offer that and though the iPhone features the quotreal internetquot thanks to the opera browser youll still run into just as many that wont work as with the sdk though the sdk browser is a bit different. Both would use EDGE for the data service but the iPhone has the bonus of switching to wifi when availible which means greatly improved speeds. Even the two new SDKs dont feature that.brbrDo you want to use mobile IM?brSDK would be your only option here. There were some rd party native aps for the iPhone but apple pretty much took care of all of those.brbrAre you looking for email?brBoth have pretty nice email. Both have push email.brbrMusic?brBoth feature MP players. The LX which is the SDK Ill be refereing to the most because its the newest tops out at GB and needs an optional card to get that high. The iPhone has GB and syncs with iTunes so its pretty easy to get stuff on and off. Plus you can download music over wifi.brbrVideo?brThe LX wont launch with a video feature. The aspect ratio and resolution on the screen as well as rumors make it likely that a OTA update will make video availible though. Again, the iPhone is the best if this is what you are most interested in. Syncs straight up with video youve purchased or encoded in iTunes.brbrTexting?brThats pretty much what the SDK was made for right?brI must say that the learning curve on the iPhones touch screen is pretty good though. The predictive text works great and once you start to trust it youll be tapping out messages in no time. With the SDK though you do get the physical qwerty and tactile feedback, which is always a plus.
