Answer
Its not a virus. While a virus can put a copy of itself onto an iPod, it doesnt actually interact with the iPod itself only with the computer it is connected to. As far as the iPod would be concerned, it would just be an ordinary file, like a picture or a text document. There are no viruses that currently interact with the iPod itself though there are a Windows viruses that use Windows to copy themselves to the drive ... but they just sit there doing nothing until the iPod is plugged into another Windows machinebrbrYou are looking either at corrupt iPod firmware are you using the very latest version of iTunes? Open iTunes and check the quotAbout iTunesquot menu ... version . is latest, failing harddisk, or very low battery.brbr If youre not using iTunes ., download it from apple.comitunesdownload br plug iPod into your computerbr click quotRestorequot ... will wipe everything off your iPod including songs, and downloadreinstall the latest version of your iPods firmware its like the Operating System for an iPodbrIf your iPod came with a separate charger, youll need to connect it to the charger when it tells you to, to finish the firmware restorebr connect to iTunes and sync the iPod ... will put your songs back onbr leave plugged in for a couple hours to charge the iPod fullybrbrIf the iPod continues to cause you the same issue after you have restored its firmware, and it does so even when fully charged, then it has a failing harddrive. If the harddisk is failing, it needs to be repaired.brbrThe warranty for an iPod is one year from purchase. If your iPod is still covered, you can send it to Apple by filling out a form at depot.info.apple.com and they will probably service it for little or no charge. If your iPod is out of warranty ... well, the new iPods are nice, and XMas is coming soon
